Rugs and rug making
Of the rugs illustrated, all of which are made in either one or a combination of these stitches, many have already been in use for some years and have proved their workaday qualities. The methods of working the various stitches, both pile and flat, are applicable to either coarse or fine canvas. All of them can be used on either double or single mesh canvas foundation, but the double mesh is strongly advised for French and Soumak stitch because the stitches can be counted with far greater ease when worked on the double mesh. |
